Objective: this article aims to understand and prioritize the dimensions or performance indicators of farms managed by Farmers Organizations (POs) producing cocoa and coffee in a context of liberalization.
Method: To achieve this objective, we carried out an exploratory survey through an interview guide making it possible to identify the different dimensions of the performance perceived by the POs. Subsequently, we conducted a survey proper through a questionnaire to ordinal measurement scale administered to 150 POs and experts in these sectors. This questionnaire allowed us to collect the degree of perception of performance in it multidimensional aspects.
Results: The statistical frequency and factorial analyzes bring out a set of performance dimensions grouped into four types of performance namely: commercial and financial performance, organizational performance, economic and social performance and strategic performance. The managerial implications go in the direction of improving, strengthening, capitalizing and preserving the achievements of the various dimensions of the performance perceived by the POs.
Originality / relevance: As Farmers Organizations do not keep proper accounts, it is difficult to talk about or to research performance indicators as defined by the financial literature. And yet these have objectives to achieve. Understanding and prioritizing these objectives has enabled us to find and classify the different dimensions of perceived performance and to group them according to the standards of the economic and management literature.
